National Youth Day was observed on the occasion of 155th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda on 12th January 2017. A Youth conference was organized at Centre for Youth and Social Development (CYSD), where around 200 students and volunteers from various educational institutes participated. "The productive, creative, imaginative and bold mind of a youth has the potential to challenge old traditions. Their efforts and energy should be channelized for the development of our nation," said Sj. Bhagban Prakash, Senior Advisor for Election Commission of India. A collaborative social group raise their helping hands for the conference are CYSD, Committee for Legal AID for the Poor (CLAP), National Youth Project (NYP), Institute for Social Development (ISD), Niyatee Foundation and Nisha Mukti Yuba Sankalpa (NMYS). Apart from the Chief Guest from the Election Commission, other guests present on the occasion were Bikash Das, Executive President of CLAP, Nirmal Kumar Panda, Chairman of Niyatee Foundation, Subashree Das, Director of ISD, Madhusudha Das, Convener of NYP and Md. Imran Ali from NMYS. Many social activists from across the state were awarded for their works. Satyananda Patra and Meena Bhagabat, Chinmayee Senapati, Shitash Praveen, Binapani Satpathy, Banaja Priyadarshini Sahoo, Shradhanjali Nayak, Deepal Kumar Nayak, Satyananda Mullick, Trilokananda Das, Bapi Nayak, Kuni Soren and Sukanta Tudu were the awardees.
